Removal of Hedge and New Fence Erected
The leylandi hedge adjacent to this pool started to die. Several of the trees in centre of hedge were dead, and many others under threat. Several reasons for this, including plants too closely planted and now lacking nutrient and light, honey fungus attacking the roots and wild clematis invading the hedge.
The only solution available was to remove hedge. To maintain privacy and security for the pool area it was necessary to erect a fence. At a later date we will replant behind the fence.
Garden Planting
We planted this garden about 10 years ago. The lavender starts to become tired and woody so we are removing and replanting with rosa rotilia . We are also going to expand the tree planting with further two betula (silver birch) and a liquidamber and create a raised bed for vegetables in line with present beds.
First job is to prepare for the planting. We removed all the lavender, and turned the ground well. We also prepared holes for the trees and levelled the area for a raised bed.
Plants arrive early December.
* Update * Plants arrived, and a luckily a gap in the weather to get them in. Three silver birch trees planted and liquid amber planted in the morning, along with 80 roses planted in the afternoon. All mulched with well rotted manure, trees staked and cane protection against deer and hare nibbling!
Hedge Clearance
The client asked us to clear the old hedge area,to open up the garden to the new boundary.
We removed 2 large Leylandi trees, which were endangering a nearby roof, cleared the bramble and wild growth.
The tree roots were lifted and the ground turned, levelled and seeded.
The project took 3 days.The weather was an issue,as dry conditions turned into constant rain and subsequently soft ground conditions. Removing large quantities of debris over the adjacent waterlogged field was interesting! Project completed and customer happy.
